I bought that ill-fated K'Aid food grinder and I had only used it once - for the first time, and it almost killed on of my K'Aid Stand mixers!!
Rather than to keep it and take that dangerous chance again, I sent it back to Cooking.com and bought the Waring Pro Meat Grinder. And even on the first try, this machine has has earned a place in my kitchen!! It quickly and powerfully grinds raw meat for burgers, meat loaf and pasta sauces!! It also processes meat for sausages as well!
It comes with a sausage stuffer attachment as well. It makes short work of your everday meal preparations by allowing you to make moist tender juicy burgers and meat loaf.
And unlike the K'Aid food grinder which is all-plastic, the body of the Waring Pro is all-metal. The tray, hopper, and worm are all die-cast metal, while the unit's body is a shiny stainless steel. Only the pusher and sausage stuffer attachment are plastic.
Comes also, with three diffrerent size extruders, large cutting blade and
has a powerful 430-watt motor. The unit is a bit noisy, but it really Gets the Job Done!!!
Cleanup is a snap! Just wash all removable parts except the main unit by hand in some hot soapy water. Let dry thoroughly before re-assembly.
So far, I like this unit!! I love that it has the reverse feature which helps dislodge stuch food so that it dosen't back up and clog the unit!! It beat that ill-fated K'Aid grinder hands down!!
I've ground meat for burgers and other things, and the machine has never batted an eyelash at all!! Great unit!!

After grinding one pound of deer meat, the motor burnt out. Since this was a gift for a friend, it is extremely disappointing to have to claim a warranty after only one hour of use. For the price, I was expecting much more.
Fairly strong meat grinder. It is necessary, however, to remove as much sinew as possible and cut meat/chicken into medium-small pieces to avoid jams. Lean meat grinds quickly and easily, but a fattier cut jams and takes longer. The motor is powerful, the 3 cutting blades are a plus, and the reverse feature helps to avoid jams. Overall, I would recommend.
I recently purchased this grinder and have ran about 100lbs of meat through it. It is powerful enough to run beef straight through the medium grind, but with game meat, I noticed that it will really bog down if you don't do the course grind first and then the medium grind.
One other key tip I noticed is if you cut your meat in strips and feed it in, it will just pull the strip in and you don't even need to use the push tube. The real work comes when you are doing a re-grind. That takes a while to pack the meat in and feed it through.
All in all it was definitely worth the money and will probably be purchasing another for double action.
We tried a couple of machines from other companies including one from Cabellas. This one outshines the others. We had no problem processing a whole hog and several pounds of deer sausage in one afternoon. Fairly easy to clean. Just remember to oil the parts. Great price on great product.
We just bought the warring pro 800 this year. We have previously ground all our burger with a hand grinder and my arms would be wore out. Last year we processed 1 antelope 4 deer and 2 elk.
This year we processed 2 antelope 4 deer and 1 elk and what a difference. At first I didn't tighte up the front nut that holds the cutting plate in place and it didn't grind good but once I cranked down that nut it ground great.
This grinder makes short work of deer meat. A Minimum pushing of the meat is required, while processing the meat. Once the blades grab the meat, your work is done. The unit also cleans up easily. This is the best best grinder my hunting mates and I have ever used. The motor doesn't seem to work hard at all. I purchased this unit because of reviews like the one I'm writing which praised this unit. If this grinder is in your price range, buy it! You will be satisfied with its build and performance.
Yes, this product worked very well for me. I ground 12lbs of pork shoulder and made sausage from it using this machine. Sausage would be much easier to make with 2 people, but that's probably true of most sausage stuffers. I never had to switch to reverse or feed bread/crackers through to prevent jams as the directions said I might. However, no part of this product is dishwasher safe. It's used to grind raw meat, but you can't put any part of it in the dishwasher. I am confused by the reviews that say clean up was easy for them. There are a bunch of little parts with gobs or slimed up raw meat stuck to all of them; then you have to scrape off what you can and wash it in your sink. It was gross. But the sausage was good.
The grinder is great. Chewed up a roast in no time flat. Very easy to clean!
This meat grinder is easy to assemble and does a good job grinding meat. I have only used it for beef to make burgers - about 8 burgers at a time. It cleans relatively easy, especially if you run saltines through it at the end of your grind. I got that tip from another review.
The grinding plate and the blade can apparently rust, but I haven't had a problem with that yet, though I have cleaned them meticulously, oiled them and stored them in wax paper. When I first unpacked them, they smelled like elementary school art class. I don't think it would make you sick, but I gave all of the components a really good wash before I started grinding.
To the important part - are the burgers better? I would vote yes. If you use a nice cut of sirloin, the burgers are amazing. Plus, I feel safer about cooking them medium rare, or rare. You can also grind sweet onions into the beef which ads a lot of flavor. I have been smoking my burgers for 30 minutes at 180* using mesquite on my Traeger grill and then cooking at a high heat on a Weber grill. Perfection.
