Upon arrival spent the next three hours trying to get the base to communicate with the sensors, constant resets, battery changes etc. no luck.
Sent emails to Oregon Scientific over a three day period, not ONE was ever answered.
This company does not care if you sink or swim period.
So went through Amazon for a exchange, the second time around, far less problems, hooked up with the sensors in a half hour or so.
Today the base lost contact with the temperature sensor, changed batteries, multiple resets finally got it to connect again.
Short of these problems, if you do not need accuracy and are simply looking for a gadget this is the one.
None of the readings are accurate by any means.
Most of the sensors are off at least 2 to 5% with the wind gauge being the worst.
Never having tried the Davis brand, I sorta wish I would of spent the extra money and went that direction, as this setup seems more of a toy than a professional setup and the lack of customer support from Oregon Scientific confirms that.
with a little help from everbody, this goes together in an afternoon. Great for kids to help the adults and it gets them interested in science. The weather station works the basics, it takes a bit to figure out what's going on, the manual offers little help (common Oregon get the hint from these reviews)but after about an hour of re-sets I figured it out. The WS gets really interesting during bad/extreme weather. Looking forward to some bad Florida Storms.
The weather system (so far) has been great. Installed about three weeks ago. Naturally, the "forecasts" it provides are unreliable, as they are limited to what the system senses, but the readings are pretty accurate. All the sensors appear to operate well, although the anemometer is not yet reading accurately (I knew it wasn't in the best spot on the roof when I installed it, and I haven't yet had the time to get up on the roof and check it out). The majority of the sensors are on the roof, and the main panel is in the kitchen, with about 40 linear feet, including the roof and a ceiling, between them, with no wireless connectivity issues. Also installed the optional UV sensor, which is working well, too.
Easy to install, instructions were very clear, as long as you have at least a smidgeon of mechanical aptitude. I had the whole thing in place in a matter of 1-1/2 hours. That is AFTER carefully reading the instructions and identifying all the parts, as you should always do.
I'd recommend it to any homeowner looking for a good quality, easy to install, wireless home system.
This is the first weather station I have owned and I really love it! It was simple to set up, easy to use and looks nice too. Great tool for the amatuer weather buff!
The WMR200 has been a nice step up. I've owned a couple of other more basic time and temp units from Oregon Scientific. The WMR200 is a much more complete weather station than the products I've used in the past. It has met all of my needs in a weather station.
