The cooker works well and looks great, however, one thing I don't like is that once the rice is done cooking, you can't add more water and press the cook button again if the rice came out too hard. It doesn't let you do it. Once it's done cooking, it's done. After testing it out several times though with sushi rice, I found that if the rice is too hard, you can add a little more water and just let it sit in the warm mode. The temperature will be high enough to evaporate the extra water and cook the rice a little more. With this rice cooker, you have to get the hang of it as far as how much water to put in to get the rice just right. You might have to add a little more over the line depending on the type of rice or how old the rice is.
This has mode for different type of rice such as white rice, brown rice, sushi rice and soupy rice. The way the rice comes out is superb! I love everything about it!
My wife and I wanted to cook brown rice for our kids but never had the time. We bought it as a Christmas present to ourselves and we could not be happier. We are in love with the ease of the programing mode, we get perfect rice right on time all we have to do is remember to set it up in the morning before we go to work. Our kids love the brown rice and the songs that the cooker plays when it is finished! Clean up is really easy can not say enough about how great this rice cooker is.
I ordered this brand because my friend said its the best rice cooker on the market. Completely agree, the rice always cooks perfectly. The only frustration is that it takes quite a while, so prepping is necessary so you're not waiting forever. Its a very pretty rice cooker and the musical start and finish sounds are cute.

This is such a great product that it really does not need a review. Looking at any other rice cooker would be an error unless you need one that makes larger quantities. From the very first time I was able to make perfect rice. Even when you make very small quantities, the rice is perfect. I actually start thinking about what I can make with rice while I am showering... the anticipation is that good. The directions are easy to follow. An added benefit is that the Zojirushi looks great in a kitchen. Other than the "Twinkle, twinkle" jingle that I could live without, don't even bother looking at other rice cookers. It is expensive and it is worth every penny.
If you are looking for a fool proof way of cooking rice, then you have found it. It takes some time to cook the rice (20min perhaps); it's not instant, and you can't really use instant rice in it or it over cooks it and makes it semi-pasty. What is great about it is that it's easy, and makes rice to a near perfect consistency.
Put your rice in using the measuring cup that it comes with, add water to the level that is dictated on the rice cooking bowl, select your type of rice (white, brown, and sushi) and press your cook button. A little jingle lets you know it starts and is finished. It cleans up really easy, the rice bowl seems to have a protective coating, just take a sponge, water and little soap for sanitation purposes, and it is easily cleaned.
The timer feature is great, set it for when you want the rice to be finished, and the cooker does the rest. If you don't get it when it is fished cooking it goes into a warming mode and actually keeps it fresh for a long time... I would have expected it to dry out but it really doesn't. I have never had a problem with it, and I recommend it to anyone.
zojirushi makes great rice cookers but I found this one too small (family of two adults)
I returned this and got the 5.5 cup size which works fine for 1 cup of rice and also works for lots of one dish meals)

the rice cooker has turned out good cooked rice twice. it is easy to clean , store, and use. it is cute.
For $100, this is really the best rice cooker you can find. It's price fluctuated over time, so make sure your purchase it at the right time.
We are using it every day now. It's convenient and easy to operate, perfect for a busy family of 2 or 3. But If you need to feed some big eaters, this might not the best choice.
